STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION TOWARD GOOGLE CLASSROOM APPLICATION IN EFL CLASSROOM

Abstract

Technology has contributed in development of education. Information Communication and Technology (ICT) is very important at this time, it has been introduced to have access a broad range of practices applying technology tools, such as Google Classroom. Google Classroom facilitates students and lecturers to connect each other inside and outside classroom especially in teaching and learning process. This research aims to investigate students’ perception toward Google Classroom, and also to find out the benefits and challenges of using Google Classroom in EFL classroom. The research involved 30 participants consist of students in eighth semester of English department in one of Universities in Majalengka, West Java. This research study used descriptive qualitative method and the data were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaires consists of 15 questions that was divided by three groups, first is about students’ perception of using Google Classroom, second is about benefits of using Google Classroom and the last is about challenges of using  Google Classroom. Five students were alsointerviewed to seek more information about their experiences during using Google Classroom. The result of this research revealed that learning trough Google Classroom application obtains the positive perceptions from students. Therefore it can be used for teaching and learning in English as a foreign language (EFL) classroom and in other subject.
